As noted in the opening page, a primary goal of this foundation is to increase each year the number of young adults we can financially assist.  In the first four years of the program scholarships were awarded to 250 young people from 40 states across the country.  Most of the awards given were for a sum of $1,000.  Although this may seem like a lot, one must consider that overall the foundation has received and reviewed 850 applications during its four year existence.  Thus, there are still many students who we were unable to help, and who surely would benefit greatly from it.

Donors to the CFSF make a direct impact upon the lives of these young adults (see Winter 2004 Newsletter).  By giving them financial support, you are helping them achieve what they may not have been able to otherwise.  You are allowing them to pursue their dreams, and by relieving the students of some of their financial duties, you are allowing them to focus more on their studies and taking care of themselves, which can be very time consuming and stressful for many young adults with CF.

The CFSF is a not-for-profit organization under IRS Code section 501 (c) 3 and all contributions are deductible to the extent allowed by law.  The CFSF has no paid staff.  The expenses of the foundation are limited to phone, mailing, and printing costs.  The CFSF receives no financial support from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  However, the CFSF wishes to thank the CFF for their assistance in communicating our program to the young adult CF population.
